You don’t have to spend a fortune to attend a weekend wellness retreat where you’ll relax in a stress-free environment and be pampered from head to toe.

Believe it or not, you can easily create the same atmosphere at home.

Creating your own peaceful and serene oasis can be done right in the comforts of your own home.

All you need to do is follow these simple tips to have your own rejuvenating retreat without ever leaving your home.

Meditate

Many weekend wellness retreats offer guests a place to meditate and ease their mind from draining thoughts and their body of unwanted stress. You can easily incorporate a few minutes of mediation by sitting in complete silence in a comfy position with your eyes closed.

Focus on your breathing and clear your mind. Make it a point not to think of anything other than your breathing.

Sip on herbal and green tea

Tea is the beverage of choice for many retreat centers, so head to your local store and pick up some tea. Brew a cup in the morning as soon as you get out of bed to start the day off right. A cup of green tea can improve your physical performance and brain function, as well as aids in weight loss and fighting off infections.

Go for walks

Take a 30-minute walk in the morning and then take another one in the evening when the sun sets. Go around your neighbourhood and just take in the beauty of it all, while letting the worries of the world slip away with every step you take.

Read

Reading can really relax your body and take your mind off things. Spend an hour reading that book you’ve been dying to start or choose a contemplative book that will help you get closer to your dreams in life.

Take a long bath

Soak in a hot bubble bath to relax just before bedtime. Put on some soft music and dim the lights – use candles to really set the mood. Bring your book in with you or just sip on a glass of wine with your eyes closed and just let everything else fade away.

Pamper yourself

Give yourself a manicure and pedicure at home and use your favourite nail polish colour that makes you feel strong and sexy.

There are many other things you can include to create your own wellness retreat at home, but as long as you get some peace of mind and relax, that’s all that matters!

  • Ive made a few changes since last reading this article. I have moved the HomePod into the bedroom and set it to play meditation music each morning – it’s a beautiful way to wake up. Our house is also full of lovely teas now and I started growing my own peppermint, mint, ginger and spearmint to make tea. I also received some beautiful clay face masks for mothers day and have been treating myself to those once a week. It really does not take much to feel a little pampered.

  • I do do a lot of these things, but probably a favourite of mine is taking the time out once a fortnight to have a good long soak in the tub. I go all out with candles, oil diffuser and bubble bath. I play some relaxation music and settle in with a good book – nothing better!

  • I find the best way to relax and have a mini retreat at home is when you can completely just lay there with no kids going mum mum mum every 10 minutes. Not having to worry about anyone but myself. This does not happen often so for me it is hard to do this at home.

  • My idea of a wellness retreat is when everyone is out of the house and I finally get the house to myself with no one asking me for help. 😀

  • I love this article! While it’s always nice to be pampered by someone else you really don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve a lot of the same benefits. You can find some amazing free meditations on you tube and honestly it’s just so beneficial to take 20 minutes for yourself even if it is hard sometimes.

  • I agree with all these steps and for the most part it is about getting into a state of mind that is free of stress and anxiety. I know my self that I need time in my day to just spend by myself, time to daydream and not worry about everything else I need to do in the day.

  • You left out, send children and partners away for weekend… also don’t have a bath! And get a mobile masseuse or beautician in!

But this is a lovely concept… but also actually going away to a health retreat with all that amazing food made for you and those big comfy beds all to yourself is pretty amazing!

  • I love this idea, as someone that works from home 90% of the time I feel like it’s important to actively work on my self care so I don’t just work work work all the time. I love enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee in my garden each morning and occasionally take my laptop out the yard to work while watching the chickens range.

  • This is a great idea and something we should all do from time to time. I should put it in my diary as if I’ve booked somewhere so I don’t forget. It’s something we could do with a couple of friends too. Face masks, manicures, meditate etc. Reading I love to do in a quiet house, alone.

  • I love this. Easy things that most people can do for very little cost. I start each and every day with a warm beverage outside in the garden before everyone is awake. I find this time alone listening to the birds and watching the sunrise a true gift and enjoy ever moment. I also love to read and enjoy herbal teas – simple things that do the world of good.

  • Love the tea and a good book when it’s peaceful and quiet at home. Sometimes I’ll turn on the diffuser and pop on a herbal scent through it that makes me feel like im in some zen spa place as they often smell so calming and relaxing in there! X
